FAQs

What are DHA and EPA?

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) are essential polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) belonging to the Omega 3 family. They are made from another Omega 3 fatty acid: alpha-linolenic acid, found in vegetable oils (such as flaxseed oil), nuts and seeds. They play a fundamental role in brain and vision development.

How to choose your omegas? What is the TOTOX index?

The TOTOX index of your omegas must be written on the bottle. The TOTOX (Total Oxidation) index is used to determine the oxidation state of an oil. It is a good indicator of the quality of an oil since a quality oil generally has a low TOTOX value, less than 10. According to GOED, the TOTOX index can be a maximum of 26. Our product has a TOTOX index of 5, considered one of the lowest on the market.

Why choose Boome’s vegan Omega 3 food supplement?

In addition to having a very low TOTOX index and being free of carrageenans, our product is particularly rich in DHA and EPA. The DHA content of the oil ofSchizochytrium sp.is higher than that of fish (45%, compared to 25.2% for fish oil). EPA, on the other hand, is often absent from vegan alternatives.
Composed of microalgae oil, therefore without fish oil, our Omega 3 are vegan and do not present any risk of containing heavy metals. In addition, our choice of a food supplement based on cultivated algae helps protect marine ecosystems and avoid the excesses of overfishing.

Is this product compatible with pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Yes. And many studies have proven the benefits of Omega 3 intake during pregnancy, breastfeeding and postpartum, but also in preconception!
Vegan Omega 3 is compatible with our entire range.

How do you know if you are deficient in Omega 3?

An Omega 3 deficiency can manifest itself in different ways: dry skin or eyes, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, memory problems, mood or sleep problems. These are common symptoms that can go unnoticed and not be spontaneously associated with an Omega 3 deficiency. The best thing to do is to ask your doctor to add Omega to your blood test.

Is it good to take Omega 3 every day?

As part of a balanced diet, it is advisable to increase the sources of Omega 3, such as regular consumption of small fish (e.g. sardines, anchovies or herring) or oils rich in the substance. In this case, our vegan Omega 3 can be consumed as a 1 to 3 month treatment once or twice a year.

On the other hand, if you eat little or no fish, continued supplementation is strongly recommended.

Where to find Omega 3 when you are vegetarian or vegan?

If you follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, some vegetable oils are an excellent source of Omega 3, such as flaxseed oil, camelina oil or walnut oil. Be careful not to heat them so as not to lose their benefits.
Chia seeds, hemp seeds, walnuts or flax seeds (freshly ground) can also be an ideal alternative.
A daily intake is recommended, but is not always easy with our modern diet. This is why a daily intake of food supplements rich in omega 3, of plant origin, can be a good solution.
